Description Analysis and visualization of geo-coded data from distributed handheld devices on deforestation. The project aims is to halt deforestation and its associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in an area under intense deforestation pressure in the Sete de Setembro Indigenous Land (TISS). Rugged handheld devices with interfaces specifically designed for non-technical users are used by Surui people to capture high-quality geo-coded data which is then passed to conservation scientists and Surui advocates for examination using advanced visualizations and comparing of data with satellite imagery to identify illegal logging and evaluate the Surui people’s role in the global carbon market.
