Description Mobile data to accelerate family reunification in crisis context. RapidFTR, Rapid Family Tracing and Reunification, is an open source mobile application used to collect vital information from children who have been separated from caregivers in disaster situations, and share it securely on a central database for family members looking for a missing child. Piloted in a Congolese transit refugee camp in Uganda in 2012, it was used in the South Sudan IPD crisis of 2013, and more recently in the Philippines after typhoon Yolanda. RapidFTR uses the same type of security as mobile banking to ensure that family-tracing information, especially photos, is accessible only by authorized users to protect these vulnerable children.
